description

What PropOne System is and why choose it

PropOne is a two-coat propeller and running gear protection system designed for components permanently immersed in water. It consists of an anti-corrosive Primer Coat and a Clear Coat foul release coating. The Clear Coat has a low surface energy, non-biocidal formulation that makes it difficult for marine organisms to adhere strongly to the treated surface, so they can be easily dislodged when the boat is placed in drive.

Unlike conventional antifouling systems, PropOne does not prevent marine growth by chemically poisoning the environment. Fouling removal is purely a mechanical effect produced by water flow over the coated surfaces.

Main features

  • Two-coat system: anti-corrosive Primer Coat plus Clear Coat foul release layer.
  • Non-biocidal Clear Coat that does not chemically poison the marine environment.
  • Low surface energy Clear Coat to reduce strong adhesion of marine organisms.
  • Suitable for all ferrous and non-ferrous marine alloys, including aluminium.
  • Applicable to propellers and other fast-moving running gear permanently immersed in water.
  • Primer and Clear Coat can be applied by brush, with roller coating possible on large flat areas for the Primer.
  • Primer mixing ratio of 4 parts Primer Coat to 1 part Primer Activator by volume.
  • Touch dry Clear Coat in approximately 1 hour at 20 °C and 55 percent relative humidity.
  • System can be immersed after specified cure times depending on temperature and humidity.

FAQ

What is included in the PropOne system?

The system consists of a Primer Coat, a Primer Activator that is mixed with the Primer, and a Clear Coat foul release coating.

How does the Clear Coat control marine fouling?

The Clear Coat has a low surface energy, non-biocidal formulation that reduces strong adhesion of organisms. Growth can occur when stationary, but organisms are easily removed once the vessel is driven.

Is PropOne a biocidal antifouling?

No. The Clear Coat does not prevent marine growth by chemically poisoning the environment and is classified as non-biocidal.

On which materials can PropOne be used?

The system is suitable for all ferrous and non-ferrous marine alloys, including aluminium. It must not be applied to anodes.

What is the recommended mixing ratio for the Primer?

The Primer must be mixed at 4 parts Primer Coat to 1 part Primer Activator by volume.

How many coats are required?

Two coats of Primer are required, followed by a single coat of Clear Coat.

When can the coated components be immersed?

At 55 percent relative humidity, immersion is possible after 16 hours at 10 °C or 12 hours at 20 °C. Lower temperatures or humidity will extend the cure time.

What are the storage conditions?

Product should be stored between 5 °C and 27 °C, with a minimum application temperature of 5 °C.

How should tools be cleaned?

Tools used with the Primer should be cleaned with acetone, while tools used with the Clear Coat should be cleaned with xylene.
