Epifanes Teak Oil Sealer is an impregnating oil specially formulated for the maintenance and protection of teak and other wood types that will not be varnished. The oil penetrates completely into the wood without building up a surface film, enhancing the natural amber colour while helping to protect against moisture ingress and discoloration over a longer period. It is easy to apply with a flat brush or lint-free cloth and can be used in almost all weather conditions.

This teak oil sealer is particularly suitable for exterior decks and teak objects that require a natural-looking, low-build protective treatment instead of a varnish system.

Recommended field of use

Surface preparation

• Ensure the wood surface is completely dry before application.
• Remove all dirt and stains using a non-bleaching cleaner.
• Degrease once more with Epifanes Spraythinner for 1-component paint and varnish.
• If the wood colour is badly weathered, one coat of Epifanes Teak-O-Clean & Bright may be used to help restore the original colour.

Application method

• Apply Epifanes Teak Oil Sealer wet-on-wet and repeat until the wood is saturated with oil.
• The number of coats depends on the remaining oil content in the wood and its absorption; on average, two coats are sufficient.
• Apply with a flat brush or lint-free cloth.
• Do not use a roller, as it does not distribute the sealer effectively.

Special notes for teak deck systems

• This sealer can affect rubber compounds used in teak deck sealant systems.
• The product may activate the plasticizer in the sealant, causing the sealant to soften and lose its sealing performance.
