Mixing and reduction (use with ALEXSEAL Interior Primer 178)

The following ratios refer to the combined use with ALEXSEAL Interior Primer 178, as specified in the Interior Primer 178 technical data sheet:

• Spray application (conventional / HVLP / pressure pot):
  • 4 parts by volume ALEXSEAL Interior Primer 178 Base (P178x)
  • 1 part by volume ALEXSEAL Interior Primer Converter (C1787)
  • Approx. 30 % reduction by volume with ALEXSEAL Interior Primer Reducer R1789 (example ratio: 4:1:1½)
  • Target spray viscosity: approx. 35 s, DIN 4 mm (30 % reduction)
• Brush and roller application:
  • 4 parts by volume ALEXSEAL Interior Primer 178 Base (P178x)
  • 1 part by volume ALEXSEAL Interior Primer Converter (C1787)
  • Minimum 15 % reduction by volume with R1789 (example ratio: 4:1:¾)

Engineering controls

• Provide adequate ventilation. Preferably use local exhaust and good general extraction.
• If aerosol and solvent vapour concentrations cannot be kept below occupational exposure limits, suitable respiratory protection must be worn.

Personal protective equipment

• Eye and face protection: Wear safety goggles to protect against solvent splashes.
• Hand protection:
  • Use chemical-resistant protective gloves tested in accordance with EN 374.
  • Recommended materials for short-term contact (splash protection): nitrile rubber or neoprene.
  • Minimum material thickness: > 0.4 mm; breakthrough time: > 480 minutes.
  • Always test gloves for suitability under specific workplace conditions and follow the glove manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Replace damaged or worn gloves immediately and avoid continuous, unnecessary glove use.
• Skin and body protection: Depending on the likelihood of explosive atmospheres, wear suitable protective clothing.
