Applications and use cases

Pre-cleaning of non-porous substrates

  • Pre-cleaning of strongly contaminated, non-porous substrates before bonding or sealing.
  • Cleaning of painted surfaces prior to adhesive application.

Removal of uncured Sikaflex products

  • Removal of uncured excess Sikaflex adhesive or sealant from application tools.
  • Cleaning of soiled, non-porous surfaces contaminated with fresh Sikaflex products.

Typical users

  • Professional applicators and installers.
  • Industrial users needing surface preparation prior to bonding.
  • Workshops handling Sikaflex-based sealing and bonding systems.

Method of application (summary)

Removal of uncured material

  1. Remove the bulk of the uncured Sikaflex residue with a knife or spatula.
  2. Moisten a clean rag or paper towel with SIKAREMOVER 208.
  3. Wipe off the remaining adhesive or sealant until the surface is clean.

Surface cleaning of painted substrates

  1. Moisten a clean, lint-free rag or paper towel with SIKAREMOVER 208. Wet the towel by pouring the liquid onto it. Do not dip the towel into the container to avoid contamination of the product.
  2. Wipe the painted surface with the wetted towel.
  3. Before the solvent dries on the surface, wipe it off with a clean, dry, lint-free paper towel.
  4. Repeat the wet-wipe and dry-wipe steps until no contaminants are visible on a white paper towel.
  5. Allow the surface to dry completely before applying adhesive or sealant.

Do not use SIKAREMOVER 208 on sensitive surfaces such as fresh paints. Reseal the container tightly immediately after each use. Discard any product that has lost its clear appearance.
